Why This Recipe is a Winner:

Why This Tater Tot Appetizer Cups Recipe Shines

  • Crispy Perfection: Achieve a golden-brown crunch with perfectly baked tater tot cups.
  • Cheese Lover’s Dream: A generous topping of melted cheddar adds a gooey, irresistible texture.
  • Bacon Bliss: Crumbled bacon provides a savory kick, elevating these cups to appetizer greatness.
  • Fresh and Zesty: The green onions bring a refreshing contrast, balancing the richness of the cheese and bacon.
  • Customizable: Create a delightful assembly line for guests to customize their cups with sour cream and other favorite garnishes.

Ingredients:

  • 48-60 frozen tater tots (about 1.36-1.7 kg or 3-3.75 lbs)
  • ¾ cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 green onions, sliced (green part only)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450ºF (230ºC). Lightly grease muffin pan cups with cooking spray.
  2. For a mini-sized muffin pan, arrange 2-3 tater tots in each cup. For a regular-sized muffin pan, place 4-5 tater tots in each cup.
  3. Position the tater tot-filled muffin pan on the bottom rack of the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven.
  4. Coat the bottom of a shot glass or small juice glass with cooking spray. Use it in a twisting motion to press the tater tots in each muffin cup, forming a potato cup. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until deep golden brown.
  5. Add 1 tablespoon of shredded cheese to each potato cup. Bake for an additional 4-5 minutes or until the cheese is melted. Transfer to a platter and let cool for 5 minutes.
  6. Top each tater tot cup with sour cream, crumbled bacon, green onions, and additional garnishes of your choice. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes:

  • Experiment with different cheeses for a personalized touch.
  • For a vegetarian option, omit the bacon or substitute it with your favorite meat alternative.
  • Ensure even baking by rotating the muffin pan halfway through the cooking time.
  • These appetizer cups are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven but can be reheated for a quick snack.
