  • 225g (1 cup) cold unsalted butter
  • 170g (1 cup + 2 tbsp) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 125g (1 cup) all-purpose flour
  • 15g (3 tbsp) dark cocoa powder
  • 2g (2 tbsp) espresso powder
  • 2.5g (½ tsp) salt
  • 250g (1 ¼ cups) granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 7.5ml (½ tbsp) vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F/180°C. Line an 8×8 square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Brown the butter in a stainless steel pan over medium heat for 10-12 minutes until it develops brown bits and a nutty aroma. Set aside.
  3. Add chocolate chips to the browned butter, stirring until melted. Set aside.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, espresso, and salt. Set aside.
