Delightful Caprese Quiche: A Fresh Take on a Classic

This Caprese Quiche combines the classic flavors of a Caprese salad with the comforting texture of a quiche. Ingredients

  • 5 large eggs
  • 5 large egg whites
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk
  • 1 cup (113g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tablespoons (10g) fresh basil, sliced and packed
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) garlic salt
  • ¼ teaspoon (1.25g) black pepper
  • 1-2 fresh Roma tomatoes, thinly sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the eggs, egg whites, milk, shredded mozzarella, sliced basil, garlic salt, and black pepper. Whisk well until all ingredients are thoroughly mixed.
  3. Prepare Baking Dish: Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) pie plate or an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking pan with cooking spray or a light coating of oil.
  4. Pour and Arrange: Pour the egg mixture into the prepared baking dish. Arrange the thinly sliced Roma tomatoes on top of the mixture. Add extra basil on top if desired for a burst of fresh flavor.
  5. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the quiche is set and lightly golden on top.
  6. Cool and Serve: Allow the quiche to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm, garnished with additional fresh basil if desired.
